After you get braces from an experienced orthodontist in South Florida, it’s exciting to know that you are on the journey towards a straight smile. However, problems can still arise throughout your orthodontic treatment. Luckily, you may be able to solve many problems temporarily by yourself until you are able to rush to a repair appointment.
4 Problems and Solutions for Braces
Loose Band or Bracket: When a bracket or band becomes loose, there are a few things that you can do before your repair appointment. If the band or bracket is still attached to the wire, leave it in place. If it comes out completely, wrap the brace or bracket in a tissue. If it is uncomfortable, place some wax on it.
Loose Wire: Try to place the loose wire back in with tweezers. However, if that is not possible, clip the wire with fingernail clippers behind the last tooth it is fastened to. Make sure to use wax if you begin to experience any discomfort.
Poking Wire: Attempt to push the wire that is poking you down with a spoon or eraser. If that is not possible, place wax on the area.
Soreness: If you experience any soreness, use warm salt water rinses and/or an over the counter pain reliever to temporarily relieve any discomfort.
